^ I agree, all the movies suck. However, I like them as well because I <3 Harry Potter, so--It's cool seeing the scenes and characters portrayed on the big s screen.

^^ Man, I find it amazing that even though you guys hate the movies (myself included in that), yet you actually buy them?! I refuse to buy the movies on principle, since they never give the fans what they want and they totally destroy the whole storyline.

I might however, be tempted with DH, since it sounds like it could actually be decent.

The directors still annoy me though. Alfonso was the worst coz he wanted to put a graveyard in Hogwarts. I mean, wtF?! [and the writer should also be sacked. Why wasn't he after PoA??!?!]

I agree that the movies do a poor job representing the books to hardcore fans such as myself, but I'm still interested in them. I like watching them to see a visual depiction, if not completely accurate, different than the one in my head, and to see how WB/the director/the cast/etc would show the films. Despite their brevity, I usually enjoy watching the films.

But my least favorite is CoS, just because it seems like there's nothing special about it...I don't know, I just don't enjoy it as much as the others.

Deffinatley Prisoner of Azkaban. HOW. COULD. THEY. CUT. OUT. SEAN BIGGERSTAFF?! It was his defining book, too. -__- I can never forgive WB for this.

As this thread was brought to the attention by a spammer, I'd like to share some quick thoughts.

I disliked movie 5 the most, I enjoyed it the first time watching it because I hadn't seen it before - but the second time I was falling asleep and the third I was struggling to finish watching it. I think the reason for this is it's basically all talk. I really enjoy watching the Occlumency sequences in the movie - when Harry's practicing and at the end how Voldemort penetrates Harry's mind. Those are my favourite parts. However, there was some pretty neat screenplay going on with this movie too which I enjoyed, for example, when Umbridge leaves Hagrid's Hut and sprays perfume everywhere.

I haven't seen movie four for a long time, but movie four and five are pretty close together in least-favourite-ness - I found the earlier three movies so much more enjoyable, re-watchable and quotable. Quotable especially in the case of the first two movies where friends of mine and myself enjoy to quote the films in an over-exaggerated manner... For example in movie one when Harry confronts Voldemort at the back of Quirrell's head:

Harry: [breathy] Voldemort!

Then Voldemort goes on to giving his speech about "See what I must do to survive?"

Cutting short... first three movies I found a lot more enjoyable to re watch whereas book five, being highlighted as the main culprit, is not.

Gosh, I haven't posted here in bloody forever. But I read your post and thought I would comment on this:

I have to say there is something in this. Quotable-ness and slashy-ness are really what makes the movie for me - HBP is my new favourite, because of all the innuendo in the film. Five was a failed attempt to get Harry to look awkward!teenager, and just ended up looking retarded and ... stupid. Unfortunately with the earlier ones they can't really put innuendo in too much, since they're still quite young. But they make up for it with other cute and adorable moments, which are what really makes the film (i.e. the quotable scenes).

GOF is probably the one I make fun of the most, with the harshest tones, because all the "quotable" quotes are unbelievably stupid. Harry saying "I love Magic" comes directly to mind.
